Kimberly

Kimberly is a dedicated single mother of four girls and a formidable advocate for justice reform. Her decade-long experience serving time in the Alabama prison system provides her with a raw, firsthand understanding of the devastating impact incarceration has on mothers and their children.
As the founder of David's Angels, an organization that fiercely advocates for this cause, Kimberly has channeled her personal journey into a powerful fight for systemic change. Having navigated the complexities of the system—and endured her own ongoing civil rights struggle against DHR (Department of Human Resources)—she is leading the movement for justice.
Her core mission is to empower incarcerated mothers by ensuring they retain the legal authority necessary to make crucial decisions regarding their children's safety and care while they are away. She understands that while a mother may pay her debt to society, her children should not be forced to pay it as well.
Kimberly is actively working to get The Sanders Law passed, legislation designed specifically to protect the legal rights of mothers in prison. Her advocacy is driven by the profound belief that every child deserves safety and stability, and every mother deserves the right to protect her child, regardless of her location. Kimberly’s fight is for justice, for her daughters, and for every family navigating the trauma of maternal incarceration.
